Welcome to the new Sports Law Bulletin from Blackstone Chambers. The Sports Law Bulletin is a regularly updated blog featuring news and opinion from barristers at Blackstone Chambers on current developments in Sports Law and recent important cases.

Blackstone Chambers is the leading set in Sports Law in the UK, with considerable experience across all areas of sports law including agency, broadcasting, contract, disciplinary, drugs, employment, image rights, regulation, sponsorship, state aid and ticketing. Blackstone Chambers attracts a range of clients, from major sports governing bodies to sporting individuals, teams, clubs, agents and broadcasters.

The Legal directories acknowledge Blackstone’s dominance in the sports sector. Chambers UK 2013 said “Blackstone Chambers continues to be by some distance the dominant set in the sports law sector”  It is “the market leader because the barristers' knowledge is unsurpassed, and also because they understand client service.”

The Sports Law Bulletin will contain regular blogs written by barristers from Blackstone Chambers to keep you informed of the most important and up-to-date developments in Sports Law. Following on from other blogs, it aims to be a more informal medium to publish short articles, case updates and opinion pieces, so that the busy practitioner has time to digest the frequent updates. However the archive also allows subscribers to the blog to search for previous articles and there will often be links to longer articles or cases.

The first blogs to be published include an article by James Segan on whether the Court of Arbitration for Sport needs a “Grand Chamber”, by Nick De Marco on Racism in Football and by Tom Hickman about the recent Viagogo rugby ticketing litigation. Click on the links under “Recent Posts” on the left hand side of the browser, or scroll down, to read these posts. There will be a number of further blog articles published by the Bulletin in the next few weeks including about a recent case concerning policing of football grounds, one about agency and secret profits and one about the application of the arbitration act to sports disciplinary procedures.

Subscription to the blog is free. All you need to do is click on “follow” on the right hand corner of your browser and you will receive updates every time a new article is published.
